18th and 19th March 2016; two consecutive days of dedication, tied in hours of hard work passed across the thinking lanes of the most eminent faces of India’s Architecture and Civil Engineering industry for deciding upon the district winners of West Bengal’s biggest Architecture and Civil Engineering award, Konstrukt at Rabindra Tirtha in New Town, Rajarhat. 260 longlisted design entries from Architects and Civil Engineers across West Bengal went through the judgement scissors of eminent Architects and Civil Engineers of India.
Technique and designing finesse figured in ethnicity and surprise were the prime criteria of selection for professionals; whereas strikingly imaginative structural blueprint worked as the cream factor of attraction when judges scrutinized the entries submitted by students. In this level of competition, “innovation” enwrapped in realistic structural value was given higher priority than the technical specifications. Juries went mesmerized by West Bengal’s quality of designing. According to the judges’ panel, the entire stack of entries is in itself a composite body of work, encrypted with Bengal’s overwhelming designing excellence in architecture.
After a tough decision making procedure, juries finally selected the District Winners, across categories. They also selected the final list of Grand Finale nominees in this round of judgement. As the District Winners get accorded in the 6 district events of Konstrukt, covering entire West Bengal in a zonal segregation of districts; the second level of judgement on 9th April 2016, will be a tougher fight of creativity among the selected nominees of Grand Finale.
It’s time for West Bengal’s designing geniuses to receive the acclamation of grandeur, they deserve!
