Shri Amitabha Ghoshal obtained his Civil Engineering degree from Bengal Engineering College (now IIEST), Shibpur and started his career with The Braithwate Burn & Jessop Construction Co Ltd (BBJ). Sri Ghoshal started Eastern Zonal office of STUP Consultants Pvt. Ltd. in 1980 and has been with them ever since. He has been intimately involved in design of many iconic structures like the Second Hooghly Bridge, multiple Bridges across Brahmaputra and the highly acclaimed Restoration Work of Hardinge Bridge in Bangladesh.
A keen professional, Sri Ghoshal has been involved in the activities of Institution of Engineers (India) from the early stage of his career and IE(I) felicitated Sri Ghoshal as an Eminent Civil Engineer in October 2009. He is a member of various committees in IRC and BIS and been responsible for drafting many Codes.
Mr Ghoshal was involved in academic activities and was a visiting Professor and Project Coordinator in B E College Shibpur, Howrah (now IIEST). Sri Ghoshal has been responsible for exporting Indian Engineering Consultancy services to fifteen countries in South and South East Asia and in case of some of them, as the first Consultant from India to be entrusted with challenging assignments.
